Indulgent crab casserole bursting with cheesy goodness!
Ingredients:
  • 12 fluid ounces heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 large yellow onion, minced
  • 1 stalk celery, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded American cheese
  • 1 pound cooked crabmeat
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 bunch green onions
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking dish. Whip together the egg yolks and heavy cream in a bowl.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and celery, saute for about 5 minutes. Season with salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and Creole seasoning. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until very tender.
  • Combine the flour in the saucepan, cooking and stirring for 5 minutes. Add the egg yolk mixture, followed by the melted 1/2 cup of Cheddar and American cheese. Remove from heat, gently fold in the crabmeat, and transfer to the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until golden and bubbly. Top with sharp Cheddar cheese and green onions, letting the cheese melt before serving.
