Decadent chocolate and sweet dates nestled between layers of buttery oats make a luxurious dessert perfect for any celebration.
Ingredients:
  • 1.3333333730698 cups chopped dates
  • 2.5 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 0.66666668653488 cup water
  • 1.3333333730698 cups white sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1.25 cups packed brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 1.5 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease an 8x10-inch baking pan.
  • In a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat, melt and thicken dates, chocolate, water, white sugar, and 1/4 cup butter, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and mix in vanilla extract. Let it cool.
  • Cream together brown sugar and 3/4 cup of butter until smooth in a bowl. Mix in oats, flour, walnuts, baking soda, and salt until a crumbly texture forms.
  • Press half of the delicious oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread the luxurious chocolate-date mixture evenly over the oat layer, then sprinkle the rest of the oat mixture on top of the chocolate-date layer.
  • Bake in the oven until the topping is lightly browned, approximately 30 minutes. Then cut into 30 small squares.
