Decadent caramel, crunchy almonds, and rich chocolate combine for the ultimate indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 225g plain flour
  • 125g chilled butter, chopped
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 20.00 gm custard powder
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 18.40 gm vegetable oil
  • 80ml golden syrup
  • 70g caster sugar
  • 60g butter
  • 40.00 gm water
  • 100g pkt flaked almonds
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C. Grease and line a 23cm square cake pan with baking paper, ensuring the paper overhangs the sides.
  • Combine flour, butter, sugar, and custard powder in a food processor until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the egg yolk and process until dough forms. Press dough into pan and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes until golden. Let it cool.
  • Prepare the caramel almond topping by combining golden syrup, sugar, butter, and water in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes until the syrup slightly thickens. Remove from heat, mix in the almonds, then pour evenly over the base. Bake for an additional 10-12 minutes until almonds turn golden brown. Let it cool completely before serving.
  • Transfer the slice onto a clean work surface. Melt the chocolate and oil together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Put the mixture into a plastic bag, snip off a corner, and drizzle the chocolate over the slice. Let it set for 30 minutes, then cut into squares using a large sharp knife.
