Bake this classic treat for spring gatherings and watch them disappear quickly!
Ingredients:
  • 395g can sweetened condensed milk
  • 180.00 gm firmly packed brown sugar
  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 55.60 gm glucose syrup (see note)
  • 53.60 gm golden syrup
  • 180g white chocolate, chopped
  • 120g dry-roasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
Instructions:
  • Prepare a 4cm-deep, 19cm square cake pan by greasing it and lining the base and sides with baking paper, leaving a 3cm overhang on all sides.
  • In a heavy-based saucepan over medium-low heat, combine milk, sugar, butter, glucose syrup, and golden syrup. Stir occasionally for 3 minutes until well combined. Increase heat to medium and stir for 10 to 12 minutes until thick and glossy. Add chocolate and stir until melted.
  • Quickly spread the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Allow to sit for 1 minute, then press hazelnuts into the top. Let it cool for 20 minutes. Refrigerate until set. Remove from the pan and use a warm knife to cut into small squares.
