Indulge in a savory garlic and cheese chicken dish that's ready in just 25 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 1 1/4 pounds)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 4 ounces Havarti or Swiss cheese, cut into 1/8-inch slices
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
Instructions:
  • In a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, sauté garlic in butter for 1 to 2 minutes until light golden brown. Add brown sugar and stir until melted.
  • Season chicken with salt and sear in a hot skillet. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown on both sides. Pour in water and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until chicken is glazed and fully cooked. Chicken should be golden and juicy. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
  • Place a vibrant tomato slice, savory cheese, and fragrant basil atop each succulent chicken piece. Allow the flavors to meld together as you cover and heat for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the cheese is irresistibly melted.
