Delicious homemade Scandinavian carrot rolls with sunflower seeds, perfect for breakfast or a snack on the go.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1.75 ounces fresh yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3.3333332538605 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1.5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4.3333334922791 cups all-purpose flour, or as needed
  • 2 small carrots, grated
  • 5.5 tablespoons sunflower seeds
  • 1 tablespoon milk, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Gently heat 1 cup of milk in a large saucepan until it reaches room temperature, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in yeast until dissolved. Add egg, olive oil, sugar, and salt, and mix well.
  • Combine half of the flour with the saucepan mixture. Mix in carrots and sunflower seeds. Add the remaining flour until dough is sticky. Cover and allow to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  • Shape the dough into 12 equal pieces and form them into small buns. Place the buns on the baking sheet. Cover them and allow them to rise until puffy, approximately 15 minutes.
  • Give those buns a milk bath on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until beautifully golden, about 15-17 minutes.
