Try my mouthwatering and budget-friendly cast iron cornbread recipe that will steal the show at any meal!
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 3 tablespoons honey, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Melt butter in a cast iron skillet, then remove from heat and set aside.
  • Combine buttermilk, cornmeal, eggs, honey, salt, and cayenne pepper, then incorporate flour and half of the butter from the pan. Pour the batter over the remaining butter in the skillet.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately 25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
