Delicious vintage candy recipe by Cathy's mom. Requires a candy thermometer for perfect results. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions:
  • Prepare an 8x8 inch square pan by greasing it.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt together brown sugar, butter, and milk until it reaches the soft ball stage (234-240 degrees F, 112-115 degrees C).
  • Mix the cornstarch with water, then pour into the saucepan and stir until well combined. Take the pan off the heat and beat the mixture for 2 minutes. Add vanilla and peanut butter, mix until smooth. Spread the batter evenly in the pan. Allow to cool, then cut into squares and savor every bite!
