Impress your guests with this surprisingly easy and delicious apple crumble recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 800g can apple pie fruit
  • 200g packet dessert figs, chopped
  • 470g packet vanilla cake mix (discard icing)
  • 80g butter, chilled
  • 187.50 ml toasted almonds, roughly chopped
  • 33.00 gm rolled oats
  • 53.75 gm demerara sugar
  • pouring cream or ice-cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and generously grease a 6cm deep, 6-cup capacity ovenproof dish.
  • Mix luscious apples and sweet figs in the dish. Evenly sprinkle 1 cup of dry cake mix over the fruit. Top it off by arranging thin slices of butter over the cake mix.
  • In a small bowl, mix together almonds, rolled oats, and sugar. Sprinkle the mixture over the butter. Bake until golden, 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Top with a generous drizzle of pouring cream or a scoop of ice cream.
