French Cherry Clafouti: Baked custard with fresh cherries and vanilla, a decadent French classic for cherry lovers.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 teaspoon butter
  • 0.5 cup flour
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar, divided
  • 1.25 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 12 ounces fresh cherries, stems removed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously butter a 2-quart baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, salt, and milk. Whisk until smooth and no lumps remain. Add eggs and vanilla, whisk until fully combined. Pour half of the custard into the baking dish.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for about 12 minutes until set. Take out from the oven. Evenly distribute cherries on top of the custard. Sprinkle with 1/3 cup of sugar. Pour in the remaining custard without moving the cherries.
  • Bake until golden brown and puffed, approximately 45 minutes. Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm.
