Delicious peach cobbler made with canned peaches!
Ingredients:
  • 5 cups fresh peaches - peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 0.125 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 1.5 cups self-rising flour
  • 1.5 cups milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix ripe peaches with fragrant Chinese five-spice powder and fresh lemon zest in a bowl.
  • Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat until simmering for 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in peach mixture and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix together sugar and self-rising flour. Add milk and whisk until a smooth batter forms.
  • Drizzle melted butter into a Dutch oven, then gently pour the batter on top.
  • Lay peaches and syrup delicately over the batter, allowing them to naturally sink in as the cobbler bakes.
  • Bake for about 50 minutes until the syrup bubbles and the crust rises and turns golden brown.
