Tender oven-roasted barbeque pork with a smoky flavor, perfect on soft buns.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons dry barbeque rub, or more as needed
  • 1 (3 1/2) pound bone-in pork shoulder blade roast
  • 0.5 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring, divided
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • 0.75 cup barbeque sauce, or as needed
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 12 soft white hamburger buns
  • 0.75 cup barbeque sauce, divided
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 210°F (100°C) for the perfect temperature.
  • Cover the pork roast generously with the dry rub and transfer it to a heavy pan or Dutch oven.
  • Divide 1/4 teaspoon of liquid smoke flavoring between two 6-ounce ramekins. Fill each ramekin with 1/2 cup of water. Position the ramekins on opposite sides of the roast in the Dutch oven and cover with the lid.
  • Roast pork in the preheated oven for 12 hours until incredibly tender. Take the roast out of the Dutch oven, place it on a work surface like a cutting board, and remove the meat from the bone using your fingers. Discard any big pieces of fat.
  • Chop the pork into bite-sized pieces using a large knife or cleaver, then generously drizzle 3/4 cup of barbeque sauce over it. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Generously slather each bun with 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce and heap the pulled pork on top to create a mouthwatering sandwich.
