Perfect Sloppy Joes: Thick, rich, finger-licking goodness meant for devouring without a fork.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds extra lean ground beef
  • 0.5 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Start by combining ground beef and onion in a cold skillet. Place the skillet on a stove burner over medium heat and cook until the beef is crumbly and browned. Stir in garlic and bell pepper until tender, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1 cup of water, then mix in ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour in another cup of water and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook until very thick, for about 30 to 45 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and cayenne as needed.
