Delicious Midwest-style barbecue ribs with a unique twist of cherry cola flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, combine salt, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Set aside for the dry rub.
  • In a small bowl, combine mustard, vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of cherry cola. Set aside for a delicious wet rub.
  • Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Cover a sheet pan with a long piece of heavy-duty foil, making sure it extends at least 6 inches past the edges of the ribs. Arrange the ribs, meat side up, on the foil.
  • - Coat top and sides with wet rub and sprinkle 60% of dry rub. Turn ribs over, brush bone side with wet rub, sprinkle remaining dry rub, and save any leftover wet rub.
  • Place the ribs in the center of the foil. Bring up the ends of the foil to create a boat shape, ensuring the juices stay inside. Fold and crimp the two long edges over the top of the ribs, ensuring the rack is fully covered but not airtight.
  • After baking for 2 hours in the preheated oven, carefully unwrap the foil and transfer the savory juices that have collected to a saucepan.
  • Place the rack meat side up and generously brush with the flavorful wet rub. Seal it back in the foil and roast at 250°F (120°C) for 1 hour.
  • Once the meat is cooking, combine any leftover wet rub with the meat juices in the saucepan. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of cherry cola, ketchup, and 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
  • Simmer on medium-high heat until liquid is reduced by half. Then, lower the heat and simmer gently until it thickens to the consistency of barbecue sauce. Remove from heat.
  • After roasting for one hour at 250 degrees F (120 degrees C), take the ribs out of the oven and unfold the foil, pressing it flat to cover the pan.
  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Continue to glaze the succulent ribs with the tantalizing sauce every 15 minutes until they are fall-off-the-bone tender, approximately 1 more hour. Enjoy!
  • Allow the ribs to rest for a delightful 10 minutes. Use a sharp knife to slice between each succulent rib, then serve with an extra drizzle of sauce.
