Transform your family gatherings with this rich and savory Southern grandmother's chicken dressing, featuring a blend of cornbread, biscuits, celery, onions, and sage.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups crumbled cornbread
  • 5 biscuits, crumbled
  • 6 cups chicken broth, divided
  • 0.5 cup margarine
  • 0.5 cup diced celery
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and lightly grease a roasting pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix crumbled cornbread and biscuits. In a large saucepan, bring broth to a boil. Pour half of the boiling broth over the cornbread mixture, cover, and let it sit.
  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt margarine until sizzling. Sauté onion and celery until tender for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and fold into cornbread mixture.
  • Pour the rest of the broth over the cornbread mixture. Mix in eggs, sage, and pepper until fully combined, then transfer to the prepared roasting pan.
  • Bake in the oven until the center is firm and the top is beautifully golden brown, approximately 1 hour.
