Flavorful chicken and green bean casserole with creamy soup. Family favorite!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup shortening
  • 0.25 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon onion salt
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cubed
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (15 ounce) can green beans
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, mix flour and onion salt. Incorporate shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add water and stir until dough forms a ball. Divide dough in half, shape into balls, and roll out to fit pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate and roll out top crust.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of shortening in a large cast iron frying pan. Sear chicken and onion until just browned. Add beans, onion salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper, oregano, and condensed soup. Stir and heat until it begins to simmer. Transfer mixture into a pie crust and cover with another crust, folding and sealing the edges. Cut slits in the top crust.
  • Bake until golden brown in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
