Delectable chicken shawarma wraps with spiced chicken, creamy yogurt sauce, and fresh veggies.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pound skinned, boned chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 0.125 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 head romaine lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 2 medium Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 4 (6 inch) pita bread rounds
Instructions:
  • Mix Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, cinnamon, oregano, salt, nutmeg, and cloves in a plastic container or resealable bag. Add chicken strips and shake until chicken is evenly coated. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight.
  • Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, then sear marinated chicken until golden brown and fully cooked, about 8 to 10 minutes, adjusting time based on chicken thickness.
  • Combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, dill, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl or small resealable container. Mix thoroughly and adjust seasonings to taste.
  • After the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce is ready, create your sandwiches by evenly distributing the chicken, lettuce, cucumber, and tomatoes onto your pita bread. Finish with a satisfying dollop of the yogurt sauce, tailored to your liking.
