Indulgent chocolate pecan pastries, a delightful pairing with coffee or tea any time of day.
Ingredients:
  • 100g pecans, finely processed
  • 5.00 gm cinnamon
  • 4.00 gm brown sugar
  • 125g butter
  • 20 sheets filo pastry
  • 250g dark chocolate, finely chopped
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and line two large oven trays with baking paper. Mix pecans, cinnamon, and sugar in a small bowl for a delightful crunch.
  • Gently melt the butter and olive oil together. Cut the filo sheets in half crossways and cover them with a damp tea towel to prevent drying out.
  • 1. Brush one sheet of pastry with butter mixture, sprinkle pecan mixture, and fold it in half. Brush the top with more butter. 2. Place a teaspoon of chopped chocolate 1cm in from the edge on the shorter end. 3. Fold the end over the chocolate, then fold in the sides about 1cm each. 4. Roll up the pastry into a long thin cigarette shape and place it on a prepared tray. 5. Repeat with the remaining pastry and filling.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until pale golden. Dust generously with icing sugar while hot. Let cool completely and enjoy with coffee.
