Decadent chocolate lava cakes made with high-quality bittersweet chocolate for the ultimate chocolate indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 4 (1 ounce) squares bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) and generously butter and flour four 4-ounce ramekins or custard cups.
  • In a double boiler over gentle heat, melt the butter and chocolate until the chocolate is nearly melted.
  • Whisk the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale and thick.
  • Combine melted chocolate and butter, then gradually pour this mixture into the eggs while beating. Finally, quickly mix in the flour until just combined.
  • Split the batter evenly among the four molds and bake at 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) for 6 to 7 minutes until the centers remain slightly soft. Flip the cakes onto serving plates, wait for 15 seconds, then remove from molds. Serve right away with optional fresh whipped cream.
