Effortlessly whip up a decadent chocolate caramel twist on classic Italian dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 395g can sweetened condensed milk
  • 32.00 gm brown sugar
  • 250g cream cheese, chopped
  • 82.50 ml drinking chocolate powder
  • 187.50 gm boiling water
  • 125.00 ml chocolate liqueur
  • 24 sponge finger biscuits (see note)
Instructions:
  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, mix condensed milk and brown sugar. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, whisking every minute until thickened. Continue microwaving and whisking in 30-second intervals for 2 to 3 minutes until a caramel forms. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • With an electric mixer, whip cream cheese until creamy. Mix in caramel until well combined. Chill caramel mixture for 1 hour or until thickened and slightly frozen.
  • In a jug, mix 2 tablespoons of chocolate powder with boiling water until fully dissolved. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish, add the liqueur, and stir well. Dip each of the 8 biscuits individually into the chocolate mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Arrange the biscuits in a rectangular shape on a platter. Let them sit for 3 to 5 minutes until they have soaked up the liquid.
  • Layer one-third of the semi-frozen caramel mixture evenly over the biscuits. Repeat the layers two more times with the remaining biscuits, chocolate mixture, and caramel mixture. Cover and freeze for 4 hours.
  • Chill in the fridge for 1 hour before serving, then sprinkle the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons of chocolate powder. Enjoy!
