Chocolate Dream Tart

Delight chocolate enthusiasts with a decadent fudgy treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Unsweetened whipped cream, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. In a medium bowl, use a pastry blender or two knives to cut 1/3 cup of butter into the flour until the mixture is crumbly. Add the egg and mix until a dough forms. Press the dough firmly and evenly into an ungreased 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow it to cool on a rack before serving.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat. Add milk and chocolate chips, cook over low heat while stirring occasionally until chocolate is melted. Stir in walnuts and vanilla, then spread mixture in the baked crust.
  • Bake for around 25 minutes or until the edges are firm, but the center has a moist chocolatey appearance. Allow to cool in the pan on a rack for about 1 hour. Serve each slice with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
