Decadent chocolate ganache cake with rich flavors of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and chili for a touch of heat.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces chopped dark chocolate
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 8-inch cake pans by greasing them and dusting with cocoa powder or spraying with baking spray.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl, sifting to mix well.
  • Combine cocoa and brown sugar in the hot water until fully dissolved.
  • Cream butter and sugar until creamy in a separate bowl. Add vanilla extract. Mix in half of the flour mixture, then add 1 egg and mix. Incorporate the remaining flour mixture and combine. Add in the second egg. Gradually pour in cocoa mixture, mixing well. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool fully for about 1 hour.
  • In a saucepan, bring cream to a boil and stir in vanilla extract. Pour hot cream over dark chocolate in a bowl. Stir until chocolate melts into a smooth mixture. Add cinnamon, chili powder, and salt. Mix well and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Top the cooled cakes with a luscious layer of ganache, then stack them. Cover the entire cake with the rest of the ganache and use a spatula to create a smooth finish. Allow the cake to chill for 30 minutes.
