Decadent triple-layered chocolate cake with coffee-infused buttercream - a luxurious treat for chocolate lovers everywhere.
Ingredients:
  • 8 (1 ounce) squares baking chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cold coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 4 (1 ounce) squares baking chocolate
  • 0.33333334326744 cup cold coffee
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease three 9-inch round baking pans.
  • In a saucepan over gentle heat, melt 8 ounces of baking chocolate with 2 tablespoons of cream. Stir consistently until smooth, about 5 minutes. Let it cool.
  • Cream together 1 cup of butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl using an electric mixer until creamy. Add sour cream, 1 cup of coffee, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in melted chocolate mixture until combined.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl, then blend into the butter mixture until smooth. Divide batter evenly among the 3 prepared baking pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 ounces of baking chocolate in 1/2 cup of cream, stirring constantly for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and mix in 1/3 cup coffee. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until fully cooled, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Whisk confectioners' sugar and 1 cup of butter into the cooled chocolate mixture in a large bowl until light and fluffy; gradually incorporate more confectioners' sugar until you achieve your preferred consistency.
  • Place one deliciously moist cake on a beautiful serving platter. Generously spread a luscious layer of icing on top of the cake. Repeat this irresistible layering process with the remaining cake and icing. Finally, elegantly spread icing on the top and sides of the entire decadent layered cake.
