Indulgent dark chocolate stout cake elevates classic flavors with a touch of sophistication.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ Dark Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 bottle (12 oz) stout beer
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 2 (8-inch) round cake pans with shortening or cooking spray, and save 2 tablespoons of the beer for the frosting. Cover and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for 2 minutes to blend the cake mix, oil, eggs, and remaining beer until smooth. Transfer the mixture to pans for baking.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans onto cooling racks. Let cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on low speed to blend cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons of beer until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, until frosting reaches a smooth and spreadable consistency.
  • Slice each cake in half horizontally to create 2 layers in total. Place one layer, cut side up, on a serving plate and spread with 1/2 cup of frosting. Repeat this process two more times. Place the final cake layer, cut side down, on top and spread with 1/2 cup of frosting. Frost the sides of the cake with the remaining frosting. Store the cake in the refrigerator.
