Savor the delightful blend of garlic, Parmesan, and olive oil in this simple yet irresistible holiday bread.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 loaf (1 pound) frozen white or whole wheat bread dough, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, finely chopped
Instructions:
  • Grease the cookie sheet. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of cheese on a flat surface. Roll the bread dough in the cheese to create a 24-inch rope. Place the dough on the greased cookie sheet, shaping it into a circle and pinching the ends to seal.
  • Make 16 equally spaced cuts around the outer edge of the dough circle, each about 1 1/2 inches apart, using kitchen scissors. Fold every other section towards the center, pinching the ends to create branch-like shapes, if desired.
  • Place the dough in a warm spot, cover it, and allow it to rise for 1 to 2 hours until it has doubled in size. It is ready when you can press your finger into it and the indentation remains.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine the oil and garlic, then brush it over the dough. Sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of cheese. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
