Impress everyone this Christmas with a show-stopping wreath that looks almost too beautiful to eat!
Ingredients:
  • 100g butter, chilled, coarsely chopped
  • 150g (1 cup) plain flour
  • 45g (1/4 cup) icing sugar mixture, sifted
  • 20.00 gm water
  • 1 x 19g writing icing
  • 10 silver cachous or Smarties
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. In a food processor, blend the butter, flour, and icing sugar until it looks like fine breadcrumbs. Add water and mix until the dough begins to form.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth. Roll it out between two sheets of non-stick baking paper to form a 7mm-thick disc. Use a 7cm-diameter star-shaped pastry cutter to create 10 stars. Place them on the lined tray and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Create a wreath shape by arranging the stars in a circle, slightly overlapping each other in at least 2 points of each star and gently pressing to seal.
  • Bake in the oven until golden, for about 12-15 minutes. Allow to cool completely on the tray for 30 minutes before serving.
  • Move the wreath to a fresh work surface. Use a piping bag to add a small amount of icing to the center of each star and embellish with a dragee. Allow it to set for 10-15 minutes. String the ribbon through the stars and knot the ends in a bow to fasten.
