Elevate your baking with the intoxicating aroma of this sweet spice!
Ingredients:
  • 337.50 gm self-raising flour
  • 100g butter, chilled, finely chopped
  • 169.95 gm milk
  • 75.90 gm finely chopped walnuts
  • 82.50 ml slivered almonds, toasted
  • 45.00 gm brown sugar
  • 53.60 gm golden syrup
Instructions:
  • Begin by preheating your oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced) and then generously grease a 3cm-deep, 19cm x 29cm slice pan.
  • In a bowl, mix flour and caster sugar. Add half of the butter and rub it in until the mixture looks like coarse breadcrumbs. In a jug, combine milk and egg, then stir into the flour mixture until you have a soft, sticky dough. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 30 seconds until smooth.
  • Roll out dough into a 30cm x 40cm rectangle. Sprinkle with walnuts, almonds, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Dot with remaining butter. Roll up tightly from one long side, trim ends. Cut into 12 slices and place in pan. Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden. Serve warm with golden syrup.
