Overnight slow cooker nutty oats recipe for a hearty breakfast.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup diced dried fruits and raisins (from 7-oz bag)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts, if desired
Instructions:
  • Grease a 3- to 4-quart slow cooker. Add oats, brown sugar, and salt. Pour in water and half-and-half, then gently mix.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for 7 to 8 hours.
  • Fold in a blend of dried fruits and aromatic cinnamon. Finish by garnishing generously with crunchy walnuts.
