Deliciously buttery spritz cookies that are perfect for any gathering. Personalize them with chocolate drizzle, nuts, dried fruit, or sparkling sugar. This recipe makes 72 servings, ideal for a cookie exchange.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla
  • Food color, if desired
  • Currants, raisins, candies, colored sugar, finely chopped nuts, candied fruit or fruit peel, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl using an electric mixer on medium speed or mix with a spoon. Add flour, salt, egg, almond extract, and a few drops of food color, and mix until well combined.
  • Load the cookie press with the dough and create your favorite shapes on a non-greased cookie sheet. Add a finishing touch by decorating with currants.
  • Bake for 5 to 8 minutes until just set. Transfer cookies to a wire rack right away. To decorate post-baking, use a drop of corn syrup to stick decorations onto cookies.
