Indulge in a delightful stacked cupcake masterpiece for any celebration.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Vanilla Cake Mix (or your favorite flavor)
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting or 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Yellow, red and blue food colors
  • Betty Crocker™ candy sprinkles or decors, as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease and lightly flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or use baking spray with flour. Place a paper baking cup in each of the 12 regular-size muffin cups.
  • Prepare cake batter according to the box instructions. Pour half of the batter into a round pan and spoon the remaining batter into muffin cups. Bake according to the box instructions. Allow to cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • In individual small bowls, combine 1 tablespoon of frosting with 1 drop of yellow food color, 1/4 cup of frosting with 2 drops of red food color, and 1/2 cup of frosting with 4 drops of blue food color.
  • Place the cake layer with the rounded side down on a serving plate. Cover the top and side with white frosting. Frost 7 cupcakes with blue frosting, 4 cupcakes with pink frosting, and 1 cupcake with yellow frosting. Arrange the cupcakes on top of the cake: start by placing 1 blue cupcake in the center, surrounding it with the remaining blue cupcakes in a circle. Add 2 rows of 2 pink cupcakes on top of the blue ones, then place the yellow cupcake in the center. Finish by sprinkling candy sprinkles over the top. Store the masterpiece loosely covered.
