Layer ingredients for chocolate chip cookies in a jar for a convenient and compact gift idea.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
  • Combine the salt, baking soda, and flour together. Pour the mixture into a 1-quart wide mouth jar. Cut a 9-inch circle from calico fabric and place it over the lid. Secure the fabric with a rubber band and decorate with a raffia or ribbon bow.
  • Include a note with the instructions: Chocolate Chip Cookies - Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). - Cream 1 cup of unsalted butter or margarine in a big bowl until light and fluffy, then beat in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix in the cookie mix. - Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto a greased cookie sheet, spacing them well apart. - Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Let them cool on wire racks.
