Copycat Italian Salad Dressing

Create a simple and delicious copycat homemade Italian salad dressing that rivals the store-bought version.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 red bell pepper
  • 1.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 0.75 cup white vinegar
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Position the oven rack 6 inches below the broiler and preheat. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place the red bell pepper on it.
  • Broil red bell pepper until slightly blackened, around 12 minutes. Place it in a bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and let sit for about 10 minutes. Uncover and peel off the skin carefully.
  • Puree roasted red pepper, oil, water, vinegar, sugar, fresh basil, lemon juice, minced onion, and salt in a blender until velvety smooth.
