Upgrade your family favorite with a unique twist using sweet potato.
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, peeled, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, trimmed, finely chopped
  • 500g beef mince
  • 12.20 gm worcestershire sauce
  • 44.40 gm tomato paste
  • 400g can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • 165.00 ml frozen peas
  • 600g orange sweet potato, peeled, chopped
  • 64.38 gm milk
  • 82.50 ml grated cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until onion is softened. Then add the mince and cook for 5 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until browned.
  • Combine the umami-packed Worcestershire sauce, rich tomato paste, fresh tomatoes, and aromatic herbs in a pot and bring them to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until rich and thickened. Gently fold in the peas and preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced.
  • 1. Boil potatoes until tender, then mash with milk and butter. 2. Spoon beef mixture into ovenproof dish. 3. Top with mashed potatoes, sprinkle with cheese, and bake until golden. 4. Serve hot.
