Spicy Cajun crawfish pie bursting with tender tail meat and veggies.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (9 inch) prepared deep-dish pie crust
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 0.5 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 0.5 cup chopped celery
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 0.125 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 12 ounces peeled crawfish tails
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
Instructions:
  • Gently line the deep-dish pie plate with the pie crust.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onion, green pepper, celery, salt, cayenne pepper, and white pepper until veggies are tender and onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and crawfish tails, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 3 minutes to combine flavors, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine flour and water in a bowl until smooth, then pour into a skillet. Simmer the filling, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 20 to 30 minutes to thicken further.
  • Once the filling is cooling, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Pour the filling into the pie crust, bake until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling, 30-40 minutes. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
