Creamy almond cream cheese puree adds a unique and indulgent twist to whole-wheat bread with yeast.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whipped cream cheese
  • 0.5 cup chopped almonds
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups whole wheat flour
Instructions:
  • Combine warm water, brown sugar, and yeast in a large mixing bowl, stirring until well mixed. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast softens and a creamy foam forms. Meanwhile, grease another large bowl and keep it ready for use.
  • Combine whipped cream cheese, almonds, milk, vegetable oil, honey, and salt with the yeast mixture. Blend in a blender until smooth and creamy.
  • Combine the all-purpose flour and cream cheese mixture in a large bowl, then incorporate the whole-wheat flour until a smooth dough forms.
  • Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 8 minutes until smooth and springy. Place dough in a greased bowl, ensuring the top is also greased. Cover with a towel and allow to rise until doubled in size, around 45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 5x9-inch bread pan.
  • Deflate dough and knead on floured surface, then shape into a loaf. Transfer to greased bread pan and let rise in a warm spot until doubled, about 45 minutes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the bread is cooked through and the top is nicely browned. If the top gets too dark, cover the bread with aluminum foil.
