French Canadian breakfast spread: Cretons - minced pork pâté, beloved in Quebec, perfect on toast or multigrain bread.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • chopped garlic
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch ground allspice
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 0.25 cup dry bread crumbs
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, simmer ground pork, milk, onion, garlic, cloves, allspice, salt, and pepper for 1 hour. Mix in bread crumbs and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Season to taste, then transfer to a small container and chill.
