French gourmet ham and cheese toast.
Ingredients:
  • 30g butter
  • 20.00 ml plain flour
  • 125ml milk
  • 125g gruyere cheese, grated
  • 4 slices woodfired bread
  • 5.90 gm Dijon mustard
  • 100g sliced leg ham
Instructions:
  • Gently melt the butter in a saucepan on low heat, then add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, ensuring the mixture doesn't brown.
  • Pour in the milk and simmer gently for 4-5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Stir in half of the grated cheese until well combined. Allow it to cool.
  • Spread 2 slices of bread with delicious Dijon mustard. Layer with savory ham and the rest of the cheese. Top with another slice of bread. Transfer to a baking tray and grill the sandwiches under a hot grill until golden brown on one side.
  • Take the sandwiches off the grill, flip them, spread the uncooked side with cheese sauce, and grill until golden and bubbly.
