Timeless sugar cream pie recipe from early 1900s. Perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (9 inch) baked pie crust
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
Instructions:
  • In a 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter with milk and sugar until smooth, about 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer 1 cup of the mixture to a bowl, whisk in cornstarch until smooth, then return it to the saucepan. Cook and stir constantly until thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes, then enjoy the rich creamy sauce.
  • Gently pour the creamy milk mixture into the pie crust and delicately sprinkle with aromatic nutmeg. Chill the pie until it sets, approximately 3 hours.
