Decorated sugar cookies baked to perfection, ready to impress on your cookie tray!
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3 teaspoons milk
  • 1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 4 drops red food color
  • 4 drops green food color
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. Beat in the egg until well combined. Stir in 1 3/4 cups flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt until fully incorporated. Shape the dough into a smooth ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 1 hour until firm.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of butter, milk, and 1/2 cup of flour using a fork until fully mixed. Divide the mixture in half. Mix red food coloring into one half and green food coloring into the other half. Transfer each colored mixture into separate decorating bags fitted with small writing tips; set aside for later use.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Roll half of the cookie dough into 3/4-inch balls and space them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. In a small bowl, measure 2 tablespoons of sugar. Press the bottom of a glass into the sugar and use it to flatten each ball into a 1 1/2-inch round shape. Creatively decorate each cookie with colored mixtures from decorating bags for festive holiday designs. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until firm, then transfer to a cooling rack.
