Indulgent devil's food cake with rich chocolate fudge frosting – a decadent and simple delight.
Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease and flour your baking pans.
  • Melt butter or margarine with unsweetened chocolate in a small pan, then let cool slightly.
  • Combine the sugar and eggs until light and creamy. Slowly add the chocolate mixture to the eggs, beating well to temper. Pour in 1 cup of still-warm boiled water and mix until smooth. The mixture should be quite liquid.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend this mixture into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  • Combine the vinegar and milk, then mix into the chocolate batter. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
