Indulge in devilishly delicious chocolate cake filled with sweet cream for dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2.5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the sugar and butter until smooth. Incorporate the egg into the mixture.
  • Combine and sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Slowly incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture, then add milk and vanilla.
  • Scoop heaping tablespoons of batter onto ungreased cookie sheets to make approximately 24 cookies.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 8 minutes, until cookies spring back when touched or a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely after removing from the oven.
  • Prepare the filling while the cookies cool: Combine milk and flour in a saucepan over low heat, whisking until a thick paste forms. Allow to cool completely off the heat.
  • In a bowl, cream together sugar, shortening, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Slowly add the cooled paste mixture and beat until light and fluffy. Be patient, as this step may take some time. Note: If the paste is not fully cooled, the mixture may appear curdled.
  • Assemble the cookies by spreading the filling on half of them and then sandwiching them with the remaining cookies.
