Spooky chocolate devil's food cupcakes topped with red frosting and candy horns and tails for a wicked Halloween treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 bag (14 oz) dark cocoa candy melts
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 box (16 oz) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon red paste food color
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups. Prepare cupcake batter according to box instructions using water, oil, and eggs. Bake as directed. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to cooling racks to cool completely.
  • Prepare a cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper. Follow the package instructions to melt the candy melts, then transfer the melted candy into a resealable food storage plastic bag. Seal the bag and cut off a small corner. Use the bag to pipe the melted candy into devil horn and tail shapes on the parchment paper. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together butter and cream cheese until creamy. Slowly add powdered sugar, continue beating until smooth. Mix in vanilla and food coloring. Frost the cupcakes by either piping or spreading the frosting. Then, insert horns and tail into the frosting on each cupcake.
