Indulgent Dulce de Leche Cake with browned butter and caramel frosting, made easy with Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Butter Recipe Yellow Cake Mix. Time to bake up some magic!
Ingredients:
  • 1/3 cup butter (do not use margarine)
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Butter Recipe Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 can (13.4 oz) dulce de leche (caramelized sweetened condensed milk)
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan) and lightly grease only the bottom of a 13x9-inch pan.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat for 4 to 6 minutes until it turns a rich golden brown color, stirring frequently. Take off the heat and let it cool for 15 minutes.
  • Combine cake mix, browned butter, water, vanilla, and eggs in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then switch to medium speed for 2 minutes until brown flecks from butter appear in the batter. Pour the mixture into a pan.
  • Follow the baking instructions on the box for a 13x9-inch pan. Allow to cool fully for about 1 hour before serving.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat dulce de leche and cream cheese on high speed for about 2 minutes until smooth. Add whipping cream and beat until stiff peaks form. Spread frosting over cooled cake and serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to enjoy. Store in the refrigerator with a loose cover.
