Try this simple chili cornbread bake with ground turkey, easily substitutable with beef.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup chopped celery
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili beans with chili gravy
  • 1 (15 ounce) can cannellini beans, drained
  • 2 (8.5 ounce) packages cornbread mix
  • 0.66666668653488 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté turkey, celery, and onion until turkey is cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Add chili powder, black pepper, cumin, and red pepper. Stir and cook for 2 minutes. Mix in tomato sauce, chili beans, and cannellini beans. Heat through for about 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a bowl, mix the cornbread mixes, milk, and egg until well combined. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan and top with the turkey mixture.
  • "Bake in the preheated oven until the cornbread's edges are golden brown and the center is firm, around 20 minutes. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top, return to the oven, and bake until the cheese is melted, for an extra 5 to 10 minutes."
