Easy chocolate churros for a fun twist on the classic treat, perfect for a kids party with colorful sprinkles.
Ingredients:
  • 100g butter
  • 20.00 gm caster sugar
  • 200g (1 1/3 cups) plain flour
  • Vegetable oil, for deep frying
  • 125.00 ml hundreds and thousands
  • White chocolate glaze
  • 100g white chocolate, chopped
  • 169.95 gm full cream milk, at room temperature
  • 500g (4 cups) soft icing sugar
  • Pink food colouring, to tint
Instructions:
  • In a medium saucepan over high heat, bring butter, caster sugar, and 250ml water to a boil. Stir in the flour with a wooden spoon and cook for 1-2 minutes until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the dough to a bowl and use an electric mixer to beat until smooth. Incorporate the eggs and beat the mixture until it becomes smooth and glossy. Transfer the smooth mixture to a piping bag equipped with a 1cm star nozzle.
  • Pour enough oil into a large saucepan to reach 6cm up the side of the pan. Heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 180C on a cook’s thermometer. Pipe three 10-15cm lengths of dough into the oil, cutting dough with kitchen scissors. Cook, turning occasionally, for three minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a paper-towel lined plate using a slotted spoon.
  • To make the glaze, combine chocolate and milk in a microwave-safe jug. Microwave on HIGH for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Mix in icing sugar and add more warmed milk for a thinner consistency. Add pink food coloring for a fun touch. Dip half a churro in the glaze, let excess drip off, then sprinkle with hundreds and thousands. Let them set on a tray lined with baking paper before serving.
