French Onion & Mushroom Green Beans

Cheesy green bean casserole with onions, mushrooms, and thyme - a tasty and easy side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil, divided
  • 1 large sweet yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen French cut green beans
  • 1 (8 ounce) package sliced baby bella mushrooms
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 0.5 cup shredded Swiss or Gruyere cheese
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-low heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil until shimmering. Add the onion and vinegar, cooking for 15 to 20 minutes until tender and golden brown. Remove the mixture from the skillet.
  • In the same skillet, warm up the 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Toss in the green beans, mushrooms, and thyme. Sauté for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the onions and salt, cooking for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until your preferred level of doneness. Finally, sprinkle with cheese before serving.
