Elevate your cooking skills with rich French onion soup paired with cheesy bread for a gourmet experience.
Ingredients:
  • 1.2kg brown onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1020.00 gm salt-reduced chicken stock
  • 500.00 gm dry white wine
  • 1 day old baguette, sliced
  • 120g extra light tasty cheese, finely grated
Instructions:
  • In a large heavy-based saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil until shimmering. Add onion and thyme, stirring occasionally, until the onion is deeply browned, about 40 minutes. Pour in stock and wine, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 1 hour. Finish by removing and discarding the thyme sprigs.
  • Preheat the grill and place bread slices on a baking tray. Grill each side for 1 to 2 minutes until golden. Sprinkle the grated tasty cheese on one side of the bread slice and grill for an additional 2 minutes until the cheese is golden and melted.
  • Serve the soup hot in bowls with a delightful topping of bread. Enjoy promptly.
