Crispy deep-fried dill pickle slices marinated in buttermilk, coated in cornmeal/flour mix with Old Bay and Cajun seasonings, served with a delicious buttermilk ranch dipping sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) jar dill pickle slices
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups fine cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay™
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 (12 ounce) jar buttermilk ranch dressing
Instructions:
  • Line a plate with parchment or wax paper. In a shallow dish, mix buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Add pickles to the mixture and let sit.
  • Combine flour, cornmeal, seafood seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon Cajun seasoning in a large resealable plastic bag. Shake vigorously to mix. Add pickles a few at a time, coat evenly with the flour mixture by gently tumbling them. Place coated pickles on a prepared plate.
  • Bring oil to a perfect sizzling temperature of 365 degrees F (180 degrees C) in a deep-fryer or heavy deep skillet.
  • Fry pickles in small batches until they turn golden brown and get a crispy exterior while keeping a moist inside, for about 1 to 2 minutes. Place on paper towels to drain.
  • Mix buttermilk ranch dressing with 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning in a small bowl until well combined. Use as a flavorful dip for warm pickles.
