Ultimate lasagna with spicy sausage, beef, rich tomato sauce, and four cheeses for maximum flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound bulk spicy pork sausage
  • 0.5 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 cup minced onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (32 ounce) jar tomato basil pasta sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup dried parsley, divided
  • 0.25 cup Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (such as Cabot® Seriously Sharp)
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, brown sausage, beef, onion, and garlic. Add pasta sauce, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, 3/4 cup parsley, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper; simmer until flavors blend, about 30 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  • While waiting, boil a large pot of lightly salted water. Cook the lasagna in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until it is cooked through but still slightly firm, approximately 8 minutes. Drain and rinse the lasagna in cold water.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and generously coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Combine ricotta, Parmesan, Cheddar, eggs, and remaining parsley in a large bowl and mix until smooth.
  • Start by generously layering the bottom of the baking dish with 1 cup of your flavorful tomato sauce. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top and generously spread a portion of the creamy ricotta mixture. Add another layer of tomato sauce, followed by more lasagna noodles. Repeat this step once more to build the delicious layers of flavor. Top it off by spreading the remaining sauce over the final layer of noodles, sprinkle a generous amount of gooey mozzarella cheese, and cover the dish with foil before baking.
  • Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven until hot throughout and bubbling, about 30-40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden.
  • Allow the dish to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
