Indulgent 5-ingredient caramel frosting perfect for topping a variety of cakes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 6 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
Instructions:
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then mix in brown sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until thickened (approximately 1 minute). Allow to cool for 5 minutes before using.
  • Whisk milk in the saucepan until silky.
  • Use an electric mixer on low speed to combine 3 cups confectioners' sugar and salt with the butter mixture. Gradually add the remaining confectioners' sugar 1 cup at a time, continuing to beat until the mixture is smooth.
